Part-Time Firefighter
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Must be a legal United States Citizen
- Must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must pass a department issued criminal/background check and drug test
- Must pass a physical examination and physical fitness test
- Must be a certified North Carolina Firefighter
- Must be a certified North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician
Volunteer Firefighter
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old
- Must be a legal United States Citizen
- Must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Must pass a department issued criminal/background check and drug test
- Must pass a physical examination and physical fitness test
- Must be willing to commit to taking North Carolina Firefighter & EMT certification classes
Junior Firefighter
- Must be between the ages of 16 & 18 years old
- Must be a legal United States Citizen
- Must have at least a “C” in all academic courses at the time of application
- Must have a parental consent/release form signed by a parent/legal guardian
- Must have a parent/legal guardian present at the formal interview
- Must review and sign a copy of the Junior Volunteer Manual, agreeing to abide by the document
- Candidate and parent/legal guardian must review and be aware of the basic training requirements in the Junior Volunteer Program
- Basic training requirements include a Blood Borne Pathogens Class, a CPR Class and subsequent certification, and the NIMS 100, 200, 700, & 800 courses provided by FEMA
- Must pass a department issued criminal/background check and drug test
